2018 SRP How it Works

WHO? Everyone! Free programming and reading rewards are offered for all ages.

WHEN? The Summer Reading Program begins June 1st and ends August 30th.

WHERE? Check out reading materials at the Ripon Public Library & enjoy programs in either the Silver Creek or Storytime Rooms. Additional program locations include Mugs Coffeehouse.

WHY participate? Reading exercises the mind, stimulates meaningful conversation, creates an informed community and provides EVERYONE with an opportunity to give back to the community through the READ for a CAUSE initiative. 

WHAT & HOW? READ! Stop by the circulation desk to register by providing your name and phone number. Then check out reading materials from the library and simply READ! Read whatever YOU enjoy. READ magazines, books, audiobooks, newspapers, cookbooks, etc.

READ FOR THE PLEASURE OF READING!

Simultaneously, Read For A Cause! Courtesy of the Friends of the Library, $500 will be divided among 3 area charitable projects — Ripon Santa Club; Green Lake Area Animal Shelter (GLAAS); and 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. Each day you check out reading materials you earn a vote  to be cast in the Read  for a Cause campaign. Voting results will be announced at the Rhythms of Life Finale event on August 30 at 6:30 P.M. with first place receiving $250, second $150, and third $100.

FREE programs Attend as many free library programs as you wish! Registration  is not  necessary.

Many events are designed for intergenerational participation. Target audiences are indicated by color with age restrictions noted in (  ). See events calendar inside. Monthly prizes Earn entry into a monthly prize drawing each day you check out  reading materials. A maximum of one entry per day may be earned.

Rhythms of Life finale event - Everyone is invited to an end of the summer Rhythms of Life: A Circle of Drums event on Thursday, August 30 at 6:30 P.M. to celebrate reading and giving! Through a globally diverse ensemble of drums and percussion instruments, Bill Kehl’s high-energy, hands-on presentation explores musical expression. Bill facilitates a collaborative music making adventure that celebrates the rhythm-making of music! Read for a Cause winners will be announced and funds awarded.

Super select prize offerings for 7 weeks of participation! Super select prizes will be on display at the library June – August. Earn entries to win big! Please be aware—to be eligible for these prize drawings, you must check out reading materials at least 7 of the 13 weeks between June 1 and August 30! Each week of reading earns you an entry ticket. 7 weeks = 7 tickets, 8 weeks = 8 tickets, and so on.
