Children's Department

Welcome to our children's department.  Here, you'll find fun and exciting information about your library, including Story Time, special events for kids, new books and movies just for you, homework help, reading suggestions and more.

A long history of early childhood research shows that reading to preschool children is crucial to their development of pre-literacy skills, and subsequently success in school. The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative aims to ensure that area children entering Kindergarten have acquired such skills through exposure to books and a language-rich early childhood experience.

While it may look like mere child's play to you, there's a lot of work — problem solving, skill building, overcoming physical and mental challenges — going on behind the scenes.
