S'mores & Informed Stargazing w/ Paul Kinzer @ Riggs County Park

Campfire and s'mores start at 7:30 P.M. Saturday, August 13, at Riggs County Park's entrance off of Hwy 23. Enjoy tasty s'mores and a story or two as the sun sets, Informed Stargazing to follow.

At 8:00 P.M., Paul Kinzer, Starlab Director, guides stargazers on a tour of the night sky with Mars & Saturn visible and a chance of meteor showers. Telescopes and binoculars provided. Maps available at the circulation desk.

This free library program is open to the public and is part of the Ripon Noon Kiwanis' annual Doug Lyke Run/Walk and Picnic which will take place at the Douglas Street Entrance of Riggs County Park. Don't miss out on this wonderful event! Early registration is $20 through August 11th, $25 August 12th through the day of the race; $45 “Family Registration” is available (up to 2 parents and 2 children) by mail entry or the day of the race.

After completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), you still need to take action to learn how much federal financial aid you are eligible to receive. Learn what steps you need to take after you submit your FAFSA® by attending this FREE informative session. This workshop explains everything that happens after a student hits "submit" on their FAFSA.

Students will learn how to:

  • Watch for their Student Aid Report and understand how to review it
  • Evaluate their Expected Family Contribution and know what it means
  • Make corrections to their FAFSA
  • Prepare for verification and know what financial documentation they may need to provide
  • Compare financial aid award letters from colleges

NERF™ Battle @ Your Library

Embrace your inner child during a night of after-hours fun on Friday, April 29th at 6 P.M. at the Ripon Public Library. Outfit yourself with a NERF™ gun and then release your stress with a game of zombies vs. humans & more during this teens-only event. NERF™ guns, “Elite” ammo, glow sticks, and snacks provided. Feel free to B.Y.O.B (bring your own unmodified blaster) too! “Elite” dart-style NERF™ guns only, please.

*Parent/Guardian will need to sign a waiver for their teen in order for them to participate.*
