Veteran travelers Valerie and Wayne Graczyk of Fond du Lac will share their photos, memories and stories from their extensive travels. Their presentation will focus on Greece and will be held on Tuesday, October 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ripon Public Library. The program is free and no registration is required.
The Graczyk’s passion for travel materialized into a home-grown business, “Someday Travel “, and has had them leading groups throughout Europe and Alaska. Both educators, they enjoy sharing little known facts, interesting stories and photos of their travels with the public who may have traveled or not traveled abroad at all. Their monthly travel column for the Gannett newspaper publication, “Experience”, is widely read and offers travel tips and trip destination information. Blogging as they travel, they share the daily travel experiences with family and friends. Blogs of their most recent trips can be found at www.somedaytravel.com . Wayne is a retired Superintendent of Schools and Valerie is director of communications for the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac, WI. She spent six years as travel coordinator for UW-Sheboygan.
Greece is top on their list as their favorite travel destination. “We led a group to Greece in 2011 and knew we would be returning. Greece is the cradle of civilization and it’s ancient history, beautiful islands, and friendly people gave us a travel experience of a life time. To stand at the foot of the Parthenon, which is part of the Acropolis in Athens, was a breath taking moment. When we visited Olympia a number of us ran the length of the field where the first athletes ran. It was a real thrill to hear the stories and see how they trained and to stand on the ground they walked. We are returning in April 2014 and are eager to share our photos from our 2011 trip,” shared Valerie.
If Greece is on your bucket list or if you just want to enjoy the history, art, and get a flavor of this beautiful country, join them for this travelogue experience.
