Duties include assisting patrons, notifying borrowers about library materials, and supervising library pages. Title: Circulation Assistant – 12 hours per week
Position Classification: IV
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, as demonstrated by prior work experience or documented accomplishments.
- Assist users with library resources such as books, online catalogs, databases and the Internet. Answer ready-reference questions and perform readers advisory.
- Provide assistance at a service desk.
- Perform registration and circulation procedures.
- Notify patrons of hold items.
- Prepare bibliographies.
- Train and supervise library pages.
- Perform light housekeeping.
- Perform other related work.
Knowledge and abilities:
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from library users.
- Ability to gather statistics, analyze information and write reports.
- Ability to identify problems and opportunities, review possible alternative courses of action and utilize information and resources for decision-making purposes.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of library user information.
- Ability to use a variety of office and library equipment such as a computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, calculator, microfilm reader and photocopier.
