“You Are Here!” For Teens, ages 12-18
There are many cool events planned for teens as part of the summer reading program:
Wednesday, June 15 @ 1 p.m. - Kick Off Event - Enjoy extreme arts and crafts as we design and create a summer reading program sign to decorate our teen space.
Tuesday, June 21 @ 10 a.m. - Let's Make-Up Workshop - This workshop, presented by Missoula Children's Theatre, teaches students of all ages by demonstrating (on a few participants) corrective, old age, and fantasy make-up for the theatre. Please note that this workshop is not a "face painting" experience.
Wednesday, June 22 @ 1 p.m. - T-Shirt Decorating - Come get creative at the library! Bring a blank clothing item to decorate with tie-dye and puffy paint. T-shirts and small canvas bags will be provided.
Wednesday, June 29 @ 1 p.m. - The Art of Mendhi - Learn about the historical and cultural aspects of the art of Mendhi and then use washable markers to create your own body art.
Wednesday, July 6 @ 1 p.m. - Mask Making - Draw inspiration from Japanese Kabuki theater masks and African tribal masks to design and create your own felt mask.
Wednesday, July 13 @ 1 p.m. - Folktale Frenzy - Join us as we share a variety of cultures' folk tales and get a chance to write your own folk tales. Immediately following this program will be Green Lake Festival of Music's "Circle of Sound" - Students of the Green Lake Festival of Music chamber workshop perform for ALL ages!
Wednesday, July 20 @ 1 p.m. - Global Cooking - Prepare and enjoy delicious snacks from cultures around the world. Take a recipe to share at home.
Wednesday, July 27 @ 2:30 P.m. - "The Spoon Man!" - Get spooned - which is better than getting forked, or knifed! Enjoy the antics of a married man, with 5 kids, who makes a living out of playing the spoons!
The library is also hosting a Movie Travelogue for teens and adults. Films are based on popular travel-themed books. (All films are rated PG-13.)
