You can now borrow Barnes & Noble Nook eReaders from the Ripon Public Library!  To check availability, place a hold on either a Nook Simple Touch or Nook Color eReader, or view the complete list of titles, search your library catalog for  "Ripon nook," or use these handy direct links:

There are currently more than 100 titles - from current best-sellers to classics, nonfiction and even children's books  -  pre-loaded and ready-to-read on each Nook.  The same titles are available on each Nook, although the Nook Color also includes fun, interactive children's books with animations and a "read to me" feature where the device will read the story out loud! Most titles can even be turned into large print titles by changing the text size on screen.

Please note: you must be 18 or older to check out a Nook.

Holiday Hours

The library will be open regular hours from Monday, December 26 through Saturday, December 31.  The library will be closed on Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2.  Please note that the library will be open on Friday, December 30 even though other city offices are closed.  Please contact the library at 920-748-6160 for a complete listing of hours.

Looking for last minute holiday gift ideas?

Here are a few suggestions for library lovers:

  • Donate a book in someone's name.  Staff members are available to suggest titles, and a bookplate will be placed in the book.  Cost: approximately $20-30, depending on the title.
  • Give the gift of a lifetime membership in the Friends of the Ripon Public Library.  Benefits include a newsletter mailed at least twice a year and free entry to the preview night of the book sale.  Cost: $50/individual, $100/family.  Yearly memberships are available for $5/individual and $10/family.
  • Purchase a Friends of the Library book bag.  Cost: $8.
  • Select books from the book sale shelf.  Cost: $1 per hardcover book or per 2 paperbacks.

Delighting in Displays!

The library's display cabinet has hosted a wonderful array of collections in 2011!

From baseballs to cameras, from preschool artwork to honoring our veterans, the case has served as a physical place to see and learn about the diverse interests of our local population.

Library Increases Fines on Adult Materials

At its November meeting, the Ripon Public Library Board of Trustees voted to increase fines from five cents per day to ten cents per day on non-video adult materials, effective on materials checked out after January 1, 2012. The fine increase will affect books, magazines, audio books and compact discs in the adult collections. The maximum fine limit on audio/visual items has also increased to $5 per item. Fines on children’s materials and on all videos remain the same. Please contact the library with any questions.
